Order terms

Service agreements.

The agreements you accept when placing a film-scanning order. Read the section that applies to your submission and return method — you'll only be asked to accept the terms relevant to your choices.

Shipping & Handling Service Agreement

By choosing to ship originals to pyxartis, you accept the following terms. We've drafted these in plain language; if anything feels unclear, please email hello@pyxartis.com before submitting.

Carrier and tracking. You select and pay the inbound carrier of your choice. We strongly recommend a service that includes tracking and signature confirmation. pyxartis is not responsible for shipments that go missing in transit before they reach the studio.

Receipt confirmation. We will email you within one business day of receiving your originals. From that point, your stated turnaround clock begins.

Care while in our custody. Originals are stored in temperature- and humidity-controlled cabinets, handled with cotton gloves on dust-controlled surfaces, and only removed from sleeves when actively being scanned.

Liability limit. While we treat every original as irreplaceable, our maximum liability for damage during shipping or processing is limited to the order's total paid amount, except where prohibited by law. Please request a custom written agreement before sending high-value originals if you require additional coverage.

Insurance. We recommend that you insure inbound shipments for their replacement value with the carrier of your choice. pyxartis does not provide third-party insurance for inbound shipments.

Drop-Off Intake & Service Agreement

By choosing in-person drop-off, you accept the following terms in addition to our standard service practices.

By appointment only. Drop-offs are scheduled in advance. We will reply to your order with available windows; please confirm a time before bringing your originals to the studio.

Inventory. At drop-off, we will inventory your originals against the roll/sheet details on your order and provide you with a confirmation receipt by email.

Pickup deadline (if applicable). If your order specifies in-person pickup, originals must be retrieved within 30 days of the completion notice. Originals retained beyond that window may incur a storage fee.

Walk-in policy. We are not staffed for walk-in service. Unscheduled drop-offs may be turned away to protect work in progress.

Return Shipping Terms

By selecting return shipping, you accept the following terms.

Tracked, insured shipping. We use a reputable carrier with tracking and a declared value matching the order's stated value. The carrier is selected by pyxartis based on the destination and originals' fragility.

Address accuracy. Returns are sent to the address you provided at checkout. pyxartis is not responsible for delays or losses caused by an incomplete or incorrect address. If your address has changed, email hello@pyxartis.com before we ship.

Damage claims. Please inspect your returned originals immediately upon delivery. Any visible damage to the outer packaging or contents must be reported to us within 5 business days, with photos, so that we can file a claim with the carrier on your behalf.

International returns. Customer is responsible for any duties, taxes, or import fees levied by the destination country. We declare actual contents and value on customs forms; we cannot misrepresent shipments.
